Immigration and Higher Education Policy

This module introduces students to immigration and higher education policy. It starts by providing an analysis of the demographics pertaining to the unauthorized community including geographic concentration, role in the workforce, and educational attainment trends. The course is then structured to familiarize students with the various reasons for unauthorized migration. Next, policies that govern entrance to and permanent residency in this country are examined.

Philanthropic Organizations and Undocumented Students

This module seeks to explore the role of philanthropy in providing educational access for undocumented students. Undocumented youth don't have access to federal and state financial aid in most states. As a result, private giving under various organizational and policy contexts may facilitate higher education access for undocumented youth. The module will also offer insight in how to support students seeking additional sources of funding as well as strategies that institutions can implement to offer funding from private sources.
